CELEBREX 200MG CAPSULE contains Celecoxib which belongs to group of medicines called Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. CELEBREX 200MG CAPSULE is used in adults to manage osteoarthritis (degenerative joint disease), rheumatoid arthritis (inflammatory disease of joints), ankylosing spondylitis (chronic back pain), acute pain and primary dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps).

CELEBREX 200MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in patients allergic to Celecoxib, sulfonamides, aspirin and/or other NSAIDs. A new study has found that prescription medications that are commonly prescribed for arthritis can be significantly less expensive.
The findings were presented at the American College of Rheumatology's annual meeting, which is held in San Francisco.
The study, published in theJournal of the American Medical Association, was led by Dr. David M. Scholl, the study's lead author. It was funded by the American Society for Rheumatology (ASR) and the Society of Rheumatology (SRR), which also owns the patent on the arthritis drugs celecoxib and rofecoxib. Rheumatologists at San Francisco's Hospital for Sickness and Rheumatology also took part in the study.
The study was published in theon Tuesday.
Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, and in New Jersey, led by Professor in charge of the study, Dr. John Kiely, of the University of Southern California, is a leading researcher on the research and development of arthritis medications.
"We are pleased to be working with San Francisco's Hospital for Sickness and Rheumatology to find novel, safe and effective drugs that are more affordable than currently available options," Dr. Scholl said. "We've now discovered that prescription medications can be significantly less expensive than currently available options, which is one reason why they are so frequently chosen."
The researchers used data from the study to identify the most expensive prescription medications, and then compared them with other available options, such as other over-the-counter medicines and lifestyle changes.

Professor Kiely is the lead author on the study, while Professor M. P. MacKay, the lead author, is the study's co-authors. The American Osteoarthritis Association, a joint-practice organization, which is dedicated to the prevention and treatment of degenerative conditions, said that, while some of its members were able to prescribe prescription medications, others were not.
"There is a significant gap between the cost and the safety of drugs," said Dr. Scholl. "In addition to this, there are other issues, which may impact the price, which may be related to differences in the market and availability of the drugs that are less expensive."
He noted that while the cost of many arthritis medications may be higher than what is sold in the market, there is not a shortage of such medications in the United States, which means that other drugs will not be available in the United States until the patent on the drug expires.

Dr. Scholl said that although the study does show that prescription medications are less expensive than other alternatives, that there is not a shortage of other medications available to treat the conditions. "This study, however, does indicate that there is a significant gap in the cost of a prescription that does not exist," Dr.
"There is also a significant gap in the price of some of the drugs that are available in the United States," he said. "There is no shortage of other medications in the United States, and therefore there is no market for these drugs."
The study was conducted by researchers from the University of Pennsylvania, the Society of Rheumatology, and the Society of Rheumatology.
